In April of 2000, a local runner promoted the idea of running the Chicago Marathon. She held a brunch for people interested in training together and forming a running club. She was surprised at the turnout – 19. There was a great deal of interest in starting a running club in Quincy. RRCA was contacted for information and on May 20, 2000, the Heartland Road Runners Club held its first meeting. The club has since grown in strength and numbers.
